You suggest the digital clock. As you help get the ropes and pull the thing into place, you note just how many separate subcomponents it has. The clock is infinitely complex with its layered lights ever shifting, and its many bits turning off and on. Gradually you notice all of them run at 120 beats per minute (being a clock and all, it does everything in terms of minutes and seconds). What if all those components were wired for sound? The people in the clock camp think it’s a cool idea and, some quick wiring later, the clock is hooked up to a sampler/synth combo in your camp. The components beep and boop in complex shifting patterns while the half-seconds become bass hits. A big projection of the clock completes the effect and a new instrument is born: a "drumming machine,” you think you'll call it. It has a lot of potential.
