You go up to speak to the giant fungi and soon learn that their society is amazingly complex, with the vast majority of them living underground as root-like networks of mycelium, and the large stem-and-cap structures above ground are just the fruits, like apples from an apple tree. You quickly learn their chemical-based language (though your accent is pretty terrible), learn to harmonize yourself with their global colony speech, and learn they have long ago joined into a single fungal dasein of all mushrooms.
